This next story will be a shorter one. Interestingly, the story of how the "original four" animatronics, Chica, Bonny, Freddy and Foxy came to be possesed by the spirits of children are still shrouded in mystery. Chica's story is the one about which the most is known, and so it is her's that I will tell.
First, we must begin with a girl called Suzie. She has blond curls and blue eyes, and is often pictured wearing a purple shirt with a white bow at the collar. She is a sweet and happy girl, she loves her pet dog. This is the story of her dog, too.
She, like many local children, likes to go to Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. At this point, it's a happy, friendly place like any other, and parents are happy to let their children run around freely. Suzie likes to play the arcade games, especially Fruity Maze (think pacman). So far, nothing bad has happened in the pizzeria. There's no reason for anyone to be afraid.
Not as far as anyone knows, anyway.
Because William Afton is there. And he has developed an urge. Quite why, no-one can say. Perhaps he simply longs to exert power over another person. Perhaps he wants to exorcise some past trauma. Who save a killer, can say why someone kills?
There is another possible reason why William Afton follows Suzie home. One that, perhaps, is more comprehensible to us. William is scared of death. More than that, he is obsessed with avoiding it. Perhaps this is because he has lost someone important. Perhaps it is because someone close to him is dying. Perhaps he simply wants to live forever, and who could blame him for that?
But we could blame him for following that girl home. We could blame him for killing her dog.
When the door opened, it ran out to say hello to his mistress. It was a small, short-legged beast with golden fur, and apple of Suzie's eye. She bent down and cuddled him, then her parents walked her through the door. The dog didn't follow straight away. He'd become distracted by a blowing leaf, or a new smell, and he wandered away into some bushes.
William was watching, and he suddenly saw the opportunity. He may have followed Suzie home because he planned to kill her, but he still knew that killing was wrong. And if he could get what he needed by taking the life of an animal, rather than a human....
He clambered out of his car, and, before it could even bark, he had the dog smuggled away under his jacket.
As he sped away, he saw Suzie and her parents in the doorway, calling for their dog. Eventually, they would conclude that the poor pooch had been run over.
Some days passed before Suzie came in again. By this point, her dog was dead, it's body hidden in a pile of scrap animatronic parts in a back room. When William saw Suzie, he felt a moment of guilt. The dog had failed to meet his need. He needed to kill again, and this time only a human would do.
He went into the back room. There was a apecial machine there, a new design. It was an animatronic, but it could also be worn as a suit. Special devices, springlocks, could be used to push the mechanisms aside, creating a space for a human within.
He wound the springlocks up, and climbed in. The suit was bulky, but hid his face and increased his strength.
He walked over to Suzie. She was playing her favourite game, fruity maze. Tears glistened in her eyes, the distraction wasn't working.
William stood behind her. He could see her face reflected in the game's screen.
"He's not really dead" he said quietly, making sure only she could hear him. "He is over here. Follow me."
Suzie turned to him, a hopeful smile on her face. He put a hand on her shoulder, and led her through the pizzeria. His heart was hammering, either from joyful aniticipation or fear. He took her to a back room that was normally used for private birthday parties. She turned to him expectantly,
"Well, where is he?" she asked.
How William killed this set of victim's isn't recorded. All that is known is that the bodies of Suzie, Gabriel, Fritz and Jeremy were stuffed inside the four original Fazbear animatronics. Suzie into Chica, Gabriel into Freddy, Fritz into Foxy, and Jeremy into Bonny. We don't know if William put them in there, or if it was The Puppet (I told you she was important), in her attempts to imbue the metal forms with the same kind of life and awareness that she retained.
We don't know if they were ever found.
Chica is another character who remains largely voiceless thorughout the series. Like Charlotte, however, Suzie is given a chance to speak as she plays a role in William's torment in ultimate custom night.
She says this:
"I was the first. I have seen everything."
Another of lines, chillingly, is "Who's there? let's smile together.", perhaps a reference of the time she spent playing fruity maze, with William, in his golden Bonny suit, smiling over her shoulder.
Oh, I should probably say something about the dog. In this telling of the story, I hypothesise that his body was hidden, for a time at least, among a pile of scrap animatronic parts. The reasons why this is important will come clear later on in the story. Suffice it to say, for now, that the spirit of Suzie's dog, Afton's experiment, ends up trapped in the form of an animatronic called Mangle, though the dog's mortal remains were probably moved away from the pizzeria at some point.
